the problem is cyberpunk envisioned a future where we have no bread but the circuses fucking rock, and instead we get this future where we have no bread and the circuses suck too and will soon all be fake-AI generated
@ami_angelwings the problem is there's bread everywhere but you have to lick someone's boot before they give it to you
@ami_angelwings closer to Dredd than Blade Runner
@AmyZenunim @ami_angelwings By this point, even Judge Dredd starts to look optimistic. In the comics, unemployment was a mandatory subject at school, which implies they had universal welfare systems in place, as everyone had enough housing and food to get bored out of their minds!
@ami_angelwings could’ve been worse tbh
@ami_angelwings I was about to mention Carole and Tuesday as an example that anticipated AI-generated art, but calling it cyberpunk may be pushing the definition a bit much.

@ami_angelwings I saw my first AI generated Instagram reel of an interview that I'm not certain ever happened. But it was like watching a dream that it happened. It was unsettling and my brain was trying to figure out what the words were that were being said. And the faces were distorted versions of the actors being interviewed.

They're really out here trying to have AI generated press junkets in the future! I hate it!

@ami_angelwings I think we accepted that we're in for a dystopia, with the hope that it might at least be cool.

...It turns out it is not going to be cool. It's going to be
boring.
