Sure; they’ve been making the old stories major plot points accessible again recently/trying to work on the “scale and scope” problem.

You can typically get the old expansions in a cheaper catch up “legendary edition” which goes on sale during the major sales (at least that’s how it works on steam and worked on stadia).

I’d try the free portion of the game out, and if you like it, pick up the latest expansion, and then when there’s a sale pickup the “legendary edition” and play through the old content.

Things will feel a bit off, but it’ll basically be like watching a movie and then when you get the legendary edition you can go back and go through the prequels.
