After all that drama around #TheBadSpace I just looked through the FediBlock hashtag.

Admins I thought I could trust are blocking people who speak out against fascism on Twitter/X. BiPoC and trans folks are openly beefing and rage-FediBlock-ing each other.

Nobody is impartial.
I don't trust any public blocklist anymore.
And by that logic I can't trust my own public blocklist anymore.
So I shut it down.

@PaulaToThePeople
This had to be a hard decision.
@PaulaToThePeople I agree that following them blindingly is not a good practice and should be discouraged. I also applaud your integrity, but don't you think that if you gave the proper warning on how to use them it would be good enough ?
I wish there was a platform that made it a bit easier for admins to see 'receipts' in the style of
#fediblockdetails. That could potentially encourage modertors to check the details server by server.
@PaulaToThePeople i have no idea what your list had been like

but thank you
@PaulaToThePeople I am disappointed in your decision; I think not making your blocklist available as a .csv was a sufficient barrier to people importing it without thinking; but thanks for your work. I will update my resources list.

@PaulaToThePeople Moderation has always been a difficult problem, and it seems like the Fediverse is still figuring it out.

Nothing but respect for your decision here. You've identified a general problem, and your immediate response is to change your own approach, putting more work on your plate in the process.

@PaulaToThePeople Mh, not sure about that one. While I've never looked at that thing, I would think the blocklist of my instance is something I should be able to see it somewhere as a user of the instance.
Not that I could personally be bothered to do so, just as a principle.
Maybe re-host it at a subdomain of climatejustice.social instead?
