came out of surgery a few hours ago. had a moment in the surgery room when i looked around and all the doctors and nurses were women.
am 57 years old and it was the first time in my life i looked around and it was all women, of all ethnicities and races, attending to my health.
#RepresentationMatters and, more than ever, we need to uplift #WomenInMedicine, especially #Surgeons #Radiologists #Anesthesiologists and yes, #Oncologists
won't know for another week (i think) if it's #cancer or not. so am not in the clear yet.
but let me tell you something:
every single doctor (all women, btw) told me had i waited another year to get a mammogram, it most likely would have developed into cancer.
so, for the love of your life and those who love you:

way too many #BlackWomen die of breast cancers, at younger ages, that could have been nipped at the bud had they gotten mammos in their 30s & 40s

i need someone to re-make "Mammas, Don't Let Your Babies Grow Up To Be Cowboys" to "Mammas, do raise your babies to be feminists" because my sons, THING1 and THING2 just have been amazing.
the people who end with my sons will be immensely blessed with two caring, loving guys.
they are my best contribution to humanity.

I had years go by where they kept telling me my tissue was dense and I had to get rechecked on a cycle of every 6 months then all of a sudden they say I do not have dense tissue when my insurance changed.
