@ArenaCops @marcelias Law is dead in the US, just as Democracy is. What we have now is raw power of the gun, just as it always was for so many people who were not born white, cis, het, and at least middle class. The biggest racket is the GOP, the centrist Dems, and the courts, prosecutors, prisons, and police themselves.
The fact that the Trump RICO charges and Cop City RICO charges came from the SAME grand jury shows the "3-way fight" aspect of this, and shows a power structure trying to hold onto power when they have few supporters left anywhere in the political spectrum.
They will jail protesters if they think it will stop the portion of US political violence that hits them personally, and will cease and desist if the prosecutions cause them to be hit even harder.
The total loss of the Cop City project to underground direct action might be enough to nip this is the bud. It also might not though-remember Cop City is Atlanta's response to the Uprising in 2020, and the RICO indictments declare the start of the "conspiracy" to be the day George Floyd was choked to death by cops.
Had Trump's Beer-Hall Putsch succeeded just months later, only some states not all would have recognized him as "President" and by breaking up the US this would have ruined the economy and caused the wealthy to absorb huge losses even if civil war had somehow been avoided.
Imagine Wal-Mart's trucks and trains having to stop at half of the state lines for customs inspection and payment of import duties!
Some of the corporate type rich are showing their anger for this with the Trump and J6 cases, just as they are showing their anger at any resistance to the policing that makes their work possible first with Cop City, then with the sum of all the Cop City legal cases and the murder of Tort.
