Big boss at work today, scheduled a "happy hour" at the end of the day and TBH I don't want to go but I feel like I have to.

Forced culture events don't work, why do corporate entities think they do?

FUN WILL NOW COMMENCE

@thickurt "If you were concerned with my happiness, you'd let me go home."
@thickurt
Yeah, those can be awful.
We had a company "fun day" a few weeks ago. Rain in the forecast, so the planned afternoon of hiking and swimming turned into "get 'faced in the office" and I just noped TF out.
I had actually wanted to go when it was going to be outside and fun.
Company is used to me, though, I don't do social stuff well and I respond badly when forced, but they give me some leeway.
@thickurt Big mood. We have an in person meetup in a few weeks and I'm seeing stories about COVID numbers climbing up again and I'm like 😬
@thickurt that's why I enjoy our "happy hour", we do beer thirty on Friday afternoon. 8 tap kegerator in the break room, come if you want or not, have a beer or not, it's all pretty organic
@thickurt I'm really starting to lean into the fact that my mangers are all not in my city.
