Nobody pushing hate speech.

Addendum: By "nobody is pushing hate speech," I mean that no company, owner of the Social Network, can deliberately and aggressively force posts with hate speech onto users solely for the purpose of selling more ads. This does not imply that there is no hate speech - unfortunately, this is a problem that also spreads in the Fediverse, and the tools are not always adequate.

@paintedsky @stefano Agree - I’m starting to hear more folks complaining about this, so I think it’s ramping up. But it’s simple to block this content at multiple levels, which seems to me is the fediverse working exactly as intended.

@stefano I always thought that was just for the primary instance, the one that bot is on - I've seen other stats bots and it's just how many on that bot's own server, so I extrapolated. I'm guessing the real number of "registered accounts on active servers" is maybe a million or two more, just based on the numbers I've seen in the past.

@stefano The fact that you think there is nobody pushing hate speech, means that you are on a well-moderated server. There's so many people pushing hate speech on the fediverse, but luckily we can block them at the server level.

@stefano I like the fediverse and am planning on staying.
But there plenty of hate speech here. Even as much of it is unnoticed by nice white people.
We should recognize reality and deal with it rather than pretending it's all rainbows and unicorns...

@stefano Indeed a huge congrats. Though hate speech was one of the first things we met when our instance went online. This has nothing to do with the platform, it has to do with the state of our global society.

@stefano Got to say, I'm looking forward to when Threads gets ActivityPub integration. I was very sceptical at first but I think it's going to be a fantastic gateway to get more people aware of the Fediverse and away from the corporate web. I'm willingly naive on this, but I choose to be hopeful.
