Introducing 'A regeneration retrospective', a miniseries on
@the_node in honour of the
@ISRB #ISRB2023 meeting. Each day I compare a #regeneration article from one of @Dev_journal's first issues with today's research.

In the first post, learn about a Danish couple that enjoyed long walks on the beach collecting flatworms and the work of Hayoung Lee & colleagues.

I hope you enjoy and revisit @the_node tomorrow for the next post.

@amjeve @the_node Fascinating! I have a question. The original paper has a French translation of the summary. Was this standard at the time in JEEM?
@steveroyle @the_node I don't think there was any standardisation! This is the only paper I've read with a French and English Abstract. JEEM took papers in various languages, including whole manuscripts in French, Arabic and Russian with various different structures, including itemised Abstract and various types of data presentation, from drawings to tables or in-text quantifications.
@amjeve @the_node fascinating! I did double-check and Uganda had English/Swahili as the main language (now, and back then), so no national requirement in this case.
@steveroyle @the_node Hadn't thought of that. Seems it may remain a mystery!
