SarahVOn Saturday mornings, I've developed a ritual of riding my bicycle to the park, where I will take time to think and journal. Lately I have added sketching before the journaling step, and it's been a wonderful addition for two reasons. The first is that it forces me to take the step of thinking about an idealized future state and put it into a concrete form that others can see. It forces me to imagine a future I want to see. #SolarPunk #BicycleSketching
I have struggled my whole life with thoughts of suicide. I didn't think I'd make it this far. Imagining the future is painful for me. But it's so important to try! The second reason is how it changes my mindset before I journal. Rather than just noting down what's going on or how I'm feeling, it puts it in context of how I can effect change in my life and my community. It helps me think about the systems that affect my life, and how I can affect them. Writing flows easily. #Journaling #Sketching
Rock Ridge Chess Club@admin I enjoy your process drawings. It’s my favorite way to draw lately, even if it’s a fictitious process. Not to dismiss your suicidal thoughts. I have had them too. But for me it’s more painful looking into the past. The future is wide open; the past is set in stone. The older I get the less this shit bothers me. It’s only a matter of time. #peace
