Microsoft: we will only use what you set when we’re forced legally 🤣🤡

Their desperation to get you to use Edge however they can is just funny.

@gamingonlinux They act like the antitrust disaster with Internet Explorer never happenend
they literally stretching as far as possible until trouble comes lmao
@gamingonlinux they see how Google controls the field and want same piece of action with their Bing business, which...checks notes...stills brings them billions of loss.
Almost like when flow of Windows and Office licenses dries out, Microsoft is for hard crash.

@gamingonlinux the fact you need Edge to use Bing chat is crazy! I have Edge installed in my Linux boxes just to use Bing chat!

And that’s all I do with it.

@gpowerf Didn't know people found that useful.
@gamingonlinux Annoyed me that Outlook opens links in Edge by default even when Firefox is set as the default browser... The company are utter twats.
@solarisfire @gamingonlinux This is just "for #security", you simply do not understand things as well as M$.
@gamingonlinux Yep. Just got a new laptop with Windows 11, and it was trying pretty hard to make their browser their default. Nope.
@gamingonlinux Even though i use windows 11 and used linux before. Microsoft is a fucking shit company.
@gamingonlinux And the focus on the EEA is just another way the British are being screwed over by Brexit.
@foxxtrot @gamingonlinux I fail to see what's not good here, I thought Brexit meant Brexit :)
@gamingonlinux everyone outside the eea gotta figure out a way to make windows think they're in it
@gamingonlinux please tell me someone has found the registry switch to "fix" this outside the EEC as well
@gamingonlinux probably the minority but I like edge. This behaviour is absurd though. If they tried to make people see it's actually a good browser rather than force people into using it, idk, feel that would be a better course of action
@richdevine @gamingonlinux I came to write exactly this. Edge is a decent browser; in some areas even better than Chrome or Firefox, but this abusive behaviour from Microsoft just makes me stick with Chrome. If only Google wasn't acting as if they wanted to prove that their old "don't be evil" motto was a deliberate deception...
@skinnyraf @gamingonlinux for sure. Obviously working on a Windows-focused website factors in a little but I do genuinely enjoy the Edge experience. If Microsoft spent less time on predatory behaviour and actually showed how good it is instead maybe they'd get less hate.
@richdevine @gamingonlinux I work in a Windows-only company, but use my own Linux PC for work sometimes - and using Microsoft web apps on Edge under Linux is quite pleasant.
@skinnyraf @gamingonlinux in an ideal world I'd still use Firefox but even my own company's CMS doesn't work it's best in it so I had to bin it.
@gamingonlinux Doesn't matter to me. I'm not using Microshaft Winblows 11 or later any way. Never have (for longer than an hour a week), never will (apart from work).
@gamingonlinux Will never not post about MSEdgeRedirect anytime this behaviour of MS is brought up. https://github.com/rcmaehl/MSEdgeRedirect/

@gamingonlinux BRB, phase-transitioning myself to the EEA.

@gamingonlinux I will never not be mad that they moved Edge to Chromium.

I understand it was probably very costly to have their own rendering team and all having their own engine and all

But Edge before turning into basically a skin of Chrome was actually good.

Like, I hated IE for years and years (and been using Firefox since 2004) so I can confidently say

"If at the least the stuff you pushed wasn't some fucking degooglified shite, maybe I'd be more forgiving"
