[P] This helped me understand better, neurotypicals fetishise certainty and feeling like they know everything. Introducing uncertainty or unknown knowledge upsets them. Social identity helps keep uncertainty down and unknowns out. Whereas I'm fine with uncertainty and not feeling like I know everything. That's life. I'm not omniscient. Neurotypicals, however, like to believe they are so they believe that unknown equals untrue. Don't Look Up et al.

The Search for Social Identity Leads to ‘Us’ versus ‘Them’

Uncertainty in the world threatens our sense of self. To cope, people embrace populism

[P] Shit. I just realised why climate denial is a thing.

* Neurotypicals need to believe they're omniscient and that there is no uncertainty;
* Social identity as a construct defends that illusion from out-groups with other knowledge;
* What is unknown then must be untrue;
* Scientists are of the out-group, therefore the unknown knowledge they purport must be lies.
