Ah, yes, great idea, spew excessive amounts of CO2 to go on a luxury safari by 757 to see all the animals we are going to drive into extinction through excessive jet travel. (ps. $135,000 to $165,000 per person, from what I have been able to gather). #travel #climate #jets
*side note, there is a photographer or art major jetting around the world right now as a "photo enrichment coach".
*major downside: sharing a plane for nearly a month with a bunch of very wealthy people living in the wealthy privileged people bubble (who may not even realize they are annoyingly wealthy and privileged).
See inside Boeing 757 that flies $165K-a-person private tours

Forget airlines, trains, and ships. The wealthy are shelling out more than $100,000 a person to globetrot via private jet on an Abercrombie & Kent air cruise.

@ai6yr pokerjinx. lol.
@exador23 Stu Palley's not here, but that's his kind of gig, IMHO.
@ai6yr What in the world is a "photo enrichment coach?" that a glorified selfie photoshopper?
@exador23 Art major or photographer job, IMHO.
@exador23 @ai6yr without quite that name, I know some small cruises that go to places like the newly melting Northwest Passage have photographers who come along to help people figure out how to make the most out of their cameras, frame shots, etc. Some people have fancy cameras and use them like a phone camera, but without having discovered the controls for it.
@geographile @exador23 That's certainly the model. People with lots of money, and not lots of skill, with equipment that is very top of the line, which they don't know how to use...
@ai6yr @exador23 but why would you spend $400 on a really good point and shoot when you could spend 10 times as much on a setup that is heavier to carry but that you don't know how to use? I understand the desire, honestly. I want a good camera and I want to learn how to use it, but most of them I can't manage with my weird hands. And to be honest, I kind of wish I had an extra $4,000.

@geographile @exador23 Much more than 4K if you include the lenses... 10K.

Normal decision making: "What is the best I can afford that I am willing to learn how to use?"

Those with money: "What is the top of the line camera which I can use as bragging rights, and will create the best photo that money can buy? No expense spared!"

@ai6yr @exador23

Bingo.

On the other hand, I can't figure out how to find a #camera that's the best quality but is also lightweight and has controls manageable by someone with limited dexterity. I'm pretty good at choosing the right words for web searches, but I am confounded by this one.

@geographile @exador23 There's a lot of people in my hobby that think that way.... not billionaires but plenty of wealth. There's a generally (false) view that if you spend enough money, your skill does not matter.
@ai6yr Okay, I am against violence and this is not to be taken as a suggestion of some sort, but, you know, accidents happen. Planes can crash. Just saying.
@proedie @ai6yr shame they can't just implode like submarines huh
@ai6yr any time I have travel envy over other's trips now I just think of this and figure at least I'm not killing off the planet traveling to the exotic places they are...
@ai6yr also it's well past time to eat the rich. For reals.
@ai6yr the much lower carbon / economic cost option: relax in your private lay-flat bedding (couch) while you jet off to exotic destinations (MSFS with VR goggles) and see fascinating and rare animals (the zoo) before sampling delicious local cuisine (the cafe next to the zoo)
🤷‍♂️
@ai6yr What…and I cannot stress this enough…the FUCK is wrong with humans.
