My recent post about 'a Saudi teacher got death sentence over tweets' got deleted... - Lemmy.world

What I get from this: personal privacy & nyms are important.

But why? I just tried to open a post by someone about a Russian rocket scientist death, and it was removed before the article could be read. Admins please don’t delete posts to suit your needs, that’s weird.
Look at the mod log and see who deleted it. Admins or mods.
Sometimes it’s repeated news or old news. The OP themselves delete it once they realise that.
So in other words, the saudi government is escalating their crimes agains humanity and all people working for said government should be going to jail.
Did the mod say why they removed it? Not technology enough?
I agree that this is important news but what does it have to do with technology?
I guess it could be argued that it’s because twittX or lemmy are technology but that’s a very weak argument.
That's the same justification Redditors used to spam /r/technology with everything BUT technology, as long as it was vaguely related.
Like I said, it’s a very weak argument.

Dude had an anonymous birdsite account with about a dozen followers, all they did was retweet stuff critical of the government, and somehow the government identified him and sentenced him to death over this. How did they find this info? Twitter outright gave it to them, therefore they became accomplices in a death.

Seems to be VERY tech related.

meh. Imo not really.
Loosely connected at best.
What’s the law in Saudi Arabia? Can they demand that information and companies be required to comply?
Or look who helped Musk finance his Twitter buyout. Laws are of little importance to a King.

Looking at the public modlog, it was deleted because the post title did not match the linked article title.

Seems fair enough IMO, as most communities here have that rule, and it seems to be accepted as common courtesy in tiddeRverse communities to not alter article titles when posting.

Personally I would have removed it on the basis of not sufficiently technology related, I think it fits better in one of the more general news communities

TW: Modlog content

I don’t see this in the mod log, what was the title?
The title is in the screenshot.

I must be missing something, or it was edited out? Unless you’re talking about this from the title:

‘a Saudi teacher got death sentence over tweets’

When looking through the mod log, this title does not show for the last month.

I mean, this is a technology forum. That post just does not belong here. Not everything is oppression. Sometimes you're just being dumb.
What could a death sentence for tweets have to do with technology, maybe if we use our brains to think for one moment we can find one
So nobody gives a duck about articles being posted several times, in the same community, but as soon someone post an article about mass surveillance made by the Emirates, and the aftermath, all hell breaks loose…
