Chickens in prehistoric Scandinavia. Who can tell me everything I need to know about it?
@kristervasshus probably not very big and probably brought in by the Romans, if they had them at all. That’s all I got.
@johnettesnuggs I'm looking for the zoo-archaelogical (is that even a word?) evidence. It wpuld seem fair to assume the Scandinavians "adopted" this bird at some point during the Iron Age, but I want to know the scholarly and acientiffic proof.

@kristervasshus @johnettesnuggs

here’s one of the rare occurrences where the German Wikipedia website is a lot more thorough than the English. You’ll find a lot of interesting info on the chicken’s domestication in general and on its distribution over Europe as well.

You could also try and find biologist and geneticist Armin Six. He did interesting molecular research on genetic relationships between breeds and knows a lot about the domestication history of chickens.

@kristervasshus

All I could find was an old book from ICA called "Seven kinds of Kluckor".

@kristervasshus I hope you find more info. The best I can think of, is the book "the horse, the wheel, and language" may have some sources or references that could lead you to some info. But that'd be a lot of effort
