This guy seems to have figured out some insane algorithm trick on YouTube to ensure his videos get picked up widely.

He’s been explaining how some features of YouTube work then making them so that they get picked up by the algorithm. The channel has only been active for about three months and most of the videos have gotten a small handful of views. But his last two are soaring.

This video in particular is interesting because he seems to know something that the average person doesn’t (which explains why it has 3 million views) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Y8GvU44uRZk

@ernie IMO he's gaming the algorithm.

(1) He tells folk to watch all of the video before they complain, and watch time is surely a huge factor in whether YT treats a video as worth showing others.

(2) He repeatedly asks the audience to comment on his video. User engagement is likely another factor boosting your position.

(3) The thumbnail. Don't worry viewer, you aren't getting older, it's the world that's changing!

@ernie This is mostly me being a grouchy old person, but the format of the video bugs me. The bland elevator music throughout it, the way he repeats himself, the slow speech, the erratic jumping around from side to side to artificially keep up engagement, and the disingenuous "comment your opinion about X!" as if he cares what any viewer has to say.
