Jenni Hermoso just published a statement about the sexual harassment by Luis #Rubiales. Key points:
• Kiss was no consent
• situation shocked her
• Spanish football association made “continuous pressure” to Hermoso and her friends/family to justify Rubiales actions
• “ZERO TOLERANCE for these behaviors” https://www.instagram.com/p/CwYQR01Ppqi/?igshid=MzRlODBiNWFlZA==

In that moment of that kiss, #rubiales , all of #hermoso 's career, skill, professionalism, expertise was reduced down to her being a female for the taking.
If he can do that publicly on a world stage, what type of behaviour is he capable of behind the scenes?

For all men & boys who saw that, THAT attitude/behaviour is what women need to see ground into the dirt under foot.

It is not men we hate, its THAT behaviour, THAT contempt for women, THAT disdain. WE decide what is acceptable for our bodies, not men like #rubiales.
And we need the good men of the world standing as allies beside us.

@Godfrey642 indeed, but I disagree that he reduced her life: Whether he succeeds with this is our decision. It’s nasty and unnecessary that she has to fight two fights instead of only the world cup, but she will win this seconds one as well.

@Tibor
He has DEFINITELY diminished her on many levels. What are ppl talking about now? Hermoso's skill? Her game? Her career? No - its that she is in a battle against him.

The entire world saw him single her out for a sexualised kiss on the lips with hands around her head - locked - so there was zero chance of he pulling back.

And what if she had pulled back or protested on TV in front of the world, killing his ego? SHE wouldve been blamed as aggressively snubbing her boss.
She cannot win.

@Godfrey642 like I said, it’s our decision. We decide what we talk about and how we see her.

@Tibor
I think it's quite clear now that it's not our decision what we talk about in the Hermoso case.

It's definitely not #Hermoso's.
She's not talking about her game, her career, her future as an expert athlete.

The decision belongs to the global media - in response to the verbal garbage that #Rubiales speaks.

The speed with which they made up that fake 'i forgive him' statement on her behalf implies to me that this kind of silencing is a somewhat common occurrence in those circles: but most players choose to stay silent, choose to let it slight and tell themselves they are 'above it', afraid of half their wikipedia-page being about 'the incident'.

@Selena @Tibor
Agreed. Women are "trained" from an early age to put up/shut up/get on with it. And males often silence them absolutely, which is why so few women take assault cases further.

In work situations (like this) women are almost always professionally compromised and sidelined afterwards.

This has been an assault, and a very public one, so the evidence was global and his ego VERY damaged. He'll be looking for revenge bc this type of male is not only entitled but also very vindictive.
