4am cracks of Lode Runner and Spare Change have served as an inspiration for me to finally learn how all this funny disk access really works, rather than having a tenuous grasp on it (at best) buttressed by _Beneath Apple DOS_.

For many years, my cracked copy of Lode Runner started with a text screen that read "CRACKED BY THE SURGEON".

@yakkoj could that have been “The Chief Surgeon”? I knew him briefly, when I was in the group Black Bag. Sadly I have not a single recollection about anyone in those groups other than their handles now 🙁. Too many years…

@Gmatom Black Bag... that's another group that had prominence in my childhood disk collection! ;o)

Unfortunately, back then I only had access to software from others, and didn't even have my own computer, so I didn't know anything about the scene whose products I was consuming...
