Just abandoned Epson and its fixed, clog-prone print heads for the first HP printer I've owned in ... I can't remember, maybe ever?
@harrymccracken Congrats, you've traded one set of problems for another!
@robotdeathsquad Seems to be unavoidable with printers.
@harrymccracken @robotdeathsquad Brother is the way to go. HP and their DRM ink is too much.
@stooovie @robotdeathsquad It bothers me for sure, though I've also had bad experiences with third-party ink, so it's more on principle.
@harrymccracken I am not jazzed about my HP all-in-one, but the print heads stay clean.
@harrymccracken buying a printer is one of the more depressing things you can do on a Sunday afternoon.

@harrymccracken Out of the frying pan, into the volcano.

Get a Brother when you are ready to stop worry about your printer and what it's going to pull next.

@brad Was also on my list, but I worried about reviews that said scan quality is not so great.
@harrymccracken To be fair I don't do a lot of scanning, but the first printer I ever bought was an Okimate 10 and I swear I've never had less trouble from any printer than my "all in one" Brother.
@harrymccracken we did the same about 7 months ago. Subscribed to their ink refill program. Not a bad deal.
@harrymccracken after using almost all brands over the years, I switched to laser and got my sanity back
@harrymccracken I got the OfficeJet Pro 9015, the Wirecutter recommendation, and the ink has been no trouble (pricey of course) but the paper tray has been horrific. So chintzy, jams every time you open or close it, and one of the legs broke off. Thankfully this happens so often an eBay seller sells 3D printed replacement legs
@zendiode The 7740, which I bought, ships with an obstructive piece of cardboard in the lower tray that makes it REALLY hard to figure out how to open it.
@harrymccracken I agree with Tony, go laser and get off the ink jet Gillette razor business model.

@hendrek I REALLY like having a wide-format scanner bed, which is the main thing holding me back. No wide-format lasers at a consumer price point.

The cost-per-page for this HP seems to be less than for the Epson I'm abandoning, at least. Actually, HP claims it's cheaper than printing on a laser!

@harrymccracken I dumped inkjet printers a few years ago, after having to throw out a year old printer because the ink clogged the print head. I was PISSED OFF. Switched to an HP Laserjet. Love it.
