Falls nochmal ein Politiker sagt "esst Fleisch", die kurze Info:

In addition: A source for such data and lots of additional information.

It's worth considering reducing meat consumption for nutritional reasons, as this is easy to do and it has health benefits as well.

What makes me a little uncomfortable are the high levels from chocolate and coffee; maybe I should be a little more aware of that.

Environmental Impacts of Food Production

What are the environmental impacts of food production? How do we reduce the impacts of agriculture on the environment?

Ok
But 1 espresso is 7g
Chocolate 100g
Steak 250g

So enjoy your coffee and a bit cocolate without feeling guilty

If you look at total consumption in Germany, the difference is not that drastic, though. It’s more like a factor of ten, not 35. And while meat consumption is declining, coffee is going up year after year. So if you switch to a mostly plant-based diet and consume above average amounts of coffee, it can quickly become the top CO2 source in your diet.

As often, a question of priorities.

A bit "provoking" statement: We do not have to 'minimize' CO2 from food. It will be 'good enough' to reduce e.g. meat consumption - because that would also free quite some area & this way allow for more environmental sound agriculture, reducing 'the rest' even more. And: Of course renewable energy will be introduced also for agriculture; that is even easier for that sector (land use is the key here, too: PV areas)
