What if we branded environmentalism as "masculine"?

@jensorensen I had this book once, "Meat is for pussies", which tried to label veganism new. How you also can be strong and a ultra-maratjon-runner or weightlifter or whatever and be a vegan at the same time. I even had a t-shirt. Wore it a lot and liked it.

Now I'm ashamed of the sexism. I don't think using the machismo stuff helps.

@jensorensen @jhamre It's a short-term boost to the ego. Like a fad diet that you realize is truly a fad because you can't follow it for the next 20-30 years without boredom or serious consequences.
@caffeinatedbookdragon @jensorensen well, I've now been a vegan for 15 years. I feel healthy, my blood samples are good and I don't feel bored at all.
@jensorensen @jhamre Then it's not a fad. It's a lifestyle change and you know how to make it work for you and to adjust for proper nutrition.
The "fad" part would be marketing for a specific gender trying to make it more hip.
I doubt I could ever go full-on vegan, but I've gone vegetarian a few times and tried veganism. If anything, I was experimenting to eat healthier with better recipes (growing up all we did was eat veggies on the side from a can, boiled to death... took me getting some vegetarian cookbooks to find new combos of veggies and prep methods so my taste buds accepted them and wouldn't get bored). I barely eat meat anymore because it's so pricey (and it HAS to be on sale before I even consider it). Actually got the No Meat Athlete's Cookbook in my stash for ideas... guess that'll be my September cookbook. Poor thing's been in there a while...
