Should be illegal
@gamingonlinux Some of them are decent, though. But yeah, they are frustrating.

@gamingonlinux
Agreed!!

*and also:* unpausable cutscenes, too.

@gamingonlinux

In some speedruns there's this convention where for loading times the timer is halted; I'd love if similar software could be developed so for unskippable cut scenes a timer could be started and the makers of the worst offenders could be shamed as failed wannabe film makers.

@barcode @gamingonlinux AreTheCutScenesSkippable . com needs to happen. :)
@barcode @gamingonlinux the reason loading times are usually hated in speedrunning is because they are inconsistent, sometimes it may take 3 seconds to load, sometimes it may take 7 seconds, and it wouldn't be fair if you were ahead of a time you were trying to be at but then the game takes longer to load, something out of your control, because of that, the timer is paused during that time to make things fair, cut scenes on the other hand are consistent in length, so you don't pause the timer
@gamingonlinux What village are you from, horse thief?
@gamingonlinux Exposition - who needs backstory? Whats the next MacGuffin I need to retrieve dammit?
@gamingonlinux Cutscenes should be both skippable and pauseable.
@gamingonlinux bonus points if the game starts with a cut scene and you're banging the keyboard to change the audio volume before you become permanently deaf
@gamingonlinux - but that's when I eat my sandwich!
@gamingonlinux Even with scenes when you launch a game.
@gamingonlinux Cutscenes and boss battles forced my not play JRPGs during my work lunch breaks.
@gamingonlinux Ahh, yes. My favorite unskippable cutscene thats really just a loading screen.
"First, they took your family, and your riches"
I upgraded my cpu and graphics card in the hoped I'd never hear that line again. It didn't work.
@gamingonlinux Even worse when a game saves BEFORE such an unskippable cutscene instead of f*cking AFTER!

Launching @modrinth app for the first time or after removing its data >_>

@gamingonlinux

@gamingonlinux Flashback to the opening cutscene for baldur’s gate 2…😝
@gamingonlinux I know right?! Especially when you can’t find a glitch or other way around it. It takes off precious seconds from speedruns!
@gamingonlinux Game intros are even worse
@gamingonlinux Only if you've seen it a couple times and replaying, then you should be able too. Heh.
