this table of C escape characters is making the same noises as I do when I have to wake up early
@aparrish sometimes I hack up a trigraph

@grumpygiant

"I cast a trigraph!"
"Okay. Roll for standards compliance."

@aparrish

@aparrish if only it let me escape in real life

@EsmeEmerald

Superfluous *in*

@aparrish

@smurthys who cares? it's the internet πŸ˜‚

@EsmeEmerald

I mean "if only it let me escape real life" πŸ˜‰

@smurthys ik but why does it need to be corrected??? lol
@EsmeEmerald
improvising; not correcting
@aparrish down to the footnotes tbh
@aparrish
Cool, you include notes in your wake up noises. Love that. πŸ˜ƒ
@Ganneff [note 3: I must do a serious reevaluation whether this job/event is truly worth it, and need to sleep on the matter] @aparrish
@aparrish Or a pilot contacting the tower! (or their S.O.)
@aparrish when I have to wake up at all without my body forcing me...
@aparrish You made me read the whole Wikipedia entry on escape sequences in C. Didn’t know all of them & have been writing C code for decades…
@aparrish
I too make escape noises in the morning...
@aparrish I don't even understand that coding language and the table still made me laugh so much that I snorted a cup of tea.
@aparrish I really thought this was going to be a joke about that Master P song.

@aparrish
I bought a particular TI pocket calculator because it still supports octal. There are some corner cases where the \xhh parsing will go awry, such as following the two hex digits with the characters A-F.

It was easier just to use the octal value of the character/symbol.

@aparrish

That is the most accurate thing EVER.

Source: I make the same sounds. Every morning.

@aparrish ⁿᡒᡗᡉ ⁴
@aparrish This is *so close* to being a drive through ordering skit.

@gsderp @aparrish

AND A LARGE ORANGE DRINK

@tsukkitsune @gsderp @aparrish or for the slightly more modern* version,

I'LL HAVE TWO NUMBER NINES, A NUMBER NINE LARGE

* (wow this one is almost 20 years old now, compared to 40 years for the orange drink skit)

@aparrish Please collect your Internets at your earliest opportunity πŸ†
@aparrish coincidentally, these are also the same noises that I make when working with C code β€‹
@aparrish note 2: turning off the alarm, note 3: measuring temperature outside blanket, note 4: actually standing up.
@aparrish damn you slipped the best toot of the year in right at the last minute

@aparrish i typed \uhhhh into the search bar and got this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DdurYUJ8wy4

didn't know the backslash in duckduckgo was "I'm Feeling Lucky"...
