@da_667 yup. I worked for an ink cartridge recycling company for a bit. thing is, it doesn't last long. for any of the major printer brands the one-off cost to pay an RE team to find a bypass is roughly a month's profit for a mid-sized ink recycler, so it's always worth the capital investment.
actually managed to get the ARIN zoom call right away and relinked my contact objects. pleasantly surprising

I find myself locked out of both my ARIN and RIPE accounts simultaneously*
Recovering the RIPE account: automated ID verification, short turnaround
Recovering the ARIN account: "Please share a few dates and times between 730am-3pm EDT M-F that will work for you and I will send the Zoom details"
sigh

these drives have pretty damn good sequential read speeds for spinning rust, too. they can sustain 300 MB/s without breaking a sweat
rebuild complete. looks like the cache layer on his box has an incredibly high hit rate (stats says 94%) 'cuz none of the other drives have more than 1-2 TB written according to SMART, the new drive is the only outlier since the rebuild (18 TB written)
hope the NVMe holds together, lol
