I'm finally coming to the conclusion that I'd like an #AirPurifier for the house with HEPA filter for COVID mitigations. I'm looking for recommendations, especially from my fellow #NewZealand dwellers, as that limits what I've got access to purchase.

@HeatherInNZ we've got Coway Megas here. They are good. Do you already know about Corsi-Rosenthal Boxes?
@Geoffberner Thank you! Yes I have heard of Corsi-Rosenthal Boxes and I think they are pretty neat but I do not have the energy to DIY a thing right now.

@HeatherInNZ

Not from New Zealand, so not being sure what you have access to, check out @joeyfox, and in particular his "How to pick an Air Cleaner" article here:

@HeatherInNZ another resource is @cleanairstars website; they've got a filter recommendation tool and a pretty sizable dataset of filtration devices from which it pulls
@trendless @cleanairstars Awesome, thank you!
@HeatherInNZ @trendless here are some solutions for 6 air changes per hour for a 30m3 bedroom under 45dBA. You can change the inputs. Remember that several devices running on submaximal fan speeds will provide a total clean air delivery rate at lower noise level and aren’t necessarily more expensive. If you see anything missing or very incorrect prices let us know. https://filters.cleanairstars.com/?country=Aotearoa+New+Zealand&max-an=45&ach=6&room-size=30&m3-or-cu=m3&no-of-occ=&max_units=3&schedule=no&diy=no&tariff=0.22&filter-rs=12&lifetime=4&submit=submit
Air Cleaner Recommendation Tool

This tool helps recommend how many of the available models of portable air filters at different fan speeds will be required to meet current recommendations to reduce the risk of transmission of respiratory viruses like SARS-CoV-2

@trendless @HeatherInNZ
I used the tool trendless mentions, and now we have two filters and also a portable filter which has been fab. I highly recommend @cleanairstars. Here's my portable filter.
@HeatherInNZ I bought this one. Gotta remember to run it more now that Pollen Season has struck 🤧
@seawall Awesome, thank you! Yeah some of us have got allergies and asthma so it should be good for that as well!

@HeatherInNZ I’ve got two - this one has a good ‘night’mode, so runs 24/7 and very quiet even at high speed https://www.noelleeming.co.nz/p/samsung-ax34t-air-purifier/N211004.html
@HeatherInNZ and I’ve got this one which is easy to move around to different rooms or take away on holiday but I found it was to noisy to have on in the bedroom at night https://www.smithscity.co.nz/sunbeam-aero-fresh-air-purifier-sap1000wh-9072999?gclid=EAIaIQobChMI8IOahej4gAMVGJJmAh2T5wnhEAQYAyABEgKfSvD_BwE
Sunbeam Aero Fresh Air Purifier SAP1000WH

The Sunbeam Fresh Protect™ Air Purifier features a premium, sleek design that can be seamlessly integrated into the home. This air purifier cleans the air using a 360° air intake system which efficiently captures air from all around the room. The UV light and Ionizer provide added protection by efficiently reducing up to 99.9% of bacteria and viruses. 5-stage purification Includes a pre-filter, True HEPA filter, and carbon filter all in one, plus UV light and Ionizer. True HEPA Filter Removes up to 99.97%* of airborne pollutants and allergens such as dust, pollen, and mould spores from the air passing through it. Particles as small as 0.3 microns are captured, providing cleaner air for your home. UV Light UV light and optional ionizer eliminate viruses and bacteria from the air. Optional Ionizer Negative ions bind with airborne smoke, dust and pollen to form larger particles that are more easily captured, helping to clean air more thoroughly. Portable Handle Portable smooth handle makes it easy to move around the house. Quiet Motor Motor operates at low speed to decrease any noise distractions.

@HeatherInNZ
I made mine.

Buy 4 MERV-13 or higher rated filters, a box fan, and a roll of wide plastic tape. Took about 20 minutes to assemble.
Quiet and moves a ton of air through.

@HeatherInNZ If you get the Coway don’t use the ionizer button b/c ozone.

@HeatherInNZ Some info from Melbourne University https://sgeas.unimelb.edu.au/engage/air-cleaner-guide

I have the Samsung AX60 and AX90 (which was deployed in Victorian classrooms) and a Phillips 2000i in the bedroom.
