Absolutely caught me by surprise while partially deadheading the roses.

The Vapourer (Orgyia antiqua) caterpillar, some call this a Rusty Tussock moth.

The adult female of this species is virtually wingless.

Might remember the caterpillar from the previous post here (Aug 25th), well this is the female Vapourer moth, on a brick wall the other end of the garden 16.2m from where found the caterpillar. Photographed today (Sept 13th). Trying to learn new camera.

Sad to report that overnight the female Vapourer moth must of died. The eggs are all still there and hope they survive the UK storms this week
