This is why governments being led by bullshit "experts" annoy me.

When vetting a new specialist doctor for an appointment and asking about COVID safety, I get this response:

"We follow the State Government Guidelines regarding COVID, so our clinicians do not wear masks, however, patients are welcome to do so."

🙁

@GwynHannay @auscovid19 Not sure which stste you're in, but in NSW it is clear that masking is recommended in medical settings.

Guidance on wearing face masks

Face masks stop viruses from spreading through the air so you are less likely to catch or spread them. When you wear a face mask, you protect yourself and others from respiratory viruses like COVID-19 and flu.

@EndemicEarthling @auscovid19 WA, so not applicable here, unfortunately. Last I heard, they removed masking requirements from public hospitals and I was surprised that there had still been any requirements left... 😛

Looks like WA Health still says "you are encouraged to wear a mask in crowded indoor settings and where social distancing is not possible".

And "Face masks are not mandatory in Western Australia, but they should be worn in crowded indoor spaces and where physical distancing is not possible."

And "be sure to take a mask with you if you are attending a health care or high-risk facility".

Looks like that is the most up-to-date mask policy for WA (last updated 20th June 2023). So I'd have that website bookmarked and ready to show to any medical centre that claims they are following State Government Guidelines when none of their clinicians wear masks.
