@filippie509 I further wonder if we haven’t extended toward Sam Altman a bit of the Trump fallacy, assuming anything they do that seems irrational or counterintuitive must be some strategic master stroke. (Like, openly pitching your consumer product as the harbinger of mass unemployment / baby Skynet)

@PeoriaBummer @harris @filippie509 I think you might both be saying similar things with different emphases? I assume that whatever VCs are doing, it's largely working out for them. Sam Altman is no longer a VC though. Maybe old habits die hard.

Peter Jakobs ⛵@filippie509 AI will, I am sure, be used in customer facing functions for large cooperations, primarily in the complaints department. For many many years now, the primary goal here was to create a system where it is impossible for the customer to talk to anybody with any sort of responsibility. AI will be perfect for that.

Mr H DThey are selling "intelligence" there is none there just autocomplete. I want to use it to help with research. I formulate a question it spits out what would be an average response which gives me clues to more questions.
It quickly becomes obvious that it does not "know" anything or has any ability to follow beyond a skin deep interaction. It could be worth a user fee but first AI sellers have to ditch the pretense and built tools that make it useful for what it is
