@filippie509 I further wonder if we haven’t extended toward Sam Altman a bit of the Trump fallacy, assuming anything they do that seems irrational or counterintuitive must be some strategic master stroke. (Like, openly pitching your consumer product as the harbinger of mass unemployment / baby Skynet)
@misc@filippie509 Every time VCs say stupid stuff (which is *a lot*) I think about this Matt Levine snippet and conclude that maybe they’re actually good at their job.
@harris@misc@filippie509 They’re vapid hype generators. Designing technology isn’t the goal. Selling a grift to another investor is the only skill. It’s all about the exit.
@PeoriaBummer@harris@filippie509 I think you might both be saying similar things with different emphases? I assume that whatever VCs are doing, it's largely working out for them. Sam Altman is no longer a VC though. Maybe old habits die hard.
