PSA to people still posting on Twitter: Twitter no longer shows replies or threads to non-logged-in users - just the individual tweets you link to. It also doesn't show profiles with all your recent tweets. I'm not sure this is widely known, especially for those in charge of brands etc. It really cuts down on the usefulness of Twitter IMO.
@CatherineFlick it is irritating even in simple personal use cases. I used to open Twitter (search or my profile) in browser to find tweet I wanted to quote in some discussion currently open in mobile app (using browser as I did not want to leave context). Not possible anymore unless I authorize browser (which is troublesome with 2fa). Same with simple finding tweets on someones computer.
@CatherineFlick twitter is a fascist propaganda platform first.

@TransitBiker @CatherineFlick Fascism involves the suppression of opposition. Is there an individual you believe shouldn't have a voice or a platform in which to speak?

Most people use words without realising they are talking about themselves.

@SonOfClement No, deplatforming fascists is anti-fascist. Deplatforming anti-fascists is fascist. Using the same word for fascists and anti-fascists is lying with equivocation. Have a webcomic

@CatherineFlick

How often do brands find fascism useful?

Twitter is an anti-democracy advocacy platform now, run by a man who believes "democracy is obsolete".

Any brand still advertising on Twitter is financially supporting an anti-democracy movement.

@Npars01 @CatherineFlick Historically, many brands have found fascism quite useful. Fascism is the emergency mode of Capitalism--when the normal way of doing things (liberal democracy ruled more or less indirectly by the rich) stops working, the most reactionary of the bourgeoisie (like Musk) will start supporting fascists in order to prevent any kind of serious left-wing movement from gaining momentum. Fascism has always been about keeping Capitalism alive when business as usual doesn't work anymore.
@CatherineFlick the only real use Twitter has right now is as an arena to CosPlay Nova Express

@CatherineFlick

I think where you went wrong was using the words Twitter and useful (or a variation of useful) in the same sentence.

@CatherineFlick

Twitter hasn't been useful since that guy took over.

@CatherineFlick On Nitter you can still read everything without being logged in Twitter. https://nitter.net/
@CatherineFlick yes! Thank you for mentioning this. Normal users don't see any discussions on X. If you reply to someone there you're literally screaming into the void.
@CatherineFlick Some brands will just keep buying the fake engagements. Looks good on internal reports so why change.
@CatherineFlick l got kicked off Twitter without warning as soon as that guy took over. I think I have not been logged in since October 2022. Site says I am suspended but I can still still view tweets without using links. Is it possible that I am somehow still logged on while suspended? 🤔
Not that it matters much. I rarely look at the site. It's mostly crap.

@CatherineFlick
Also, due to the recent change, non-logged-in users are shown profiles sorted by the number of likes.

Which is not good for profiles showing emergency messages (e.g., storm / tornado / hurricane warnings) and important announcements.

"Why didn't you warn people?"

"We did - we posted a warning on X. Unfortunately, it did not get enough likes to be shown at the top of the profile."

X, formerly Twitter, now sorts your posts by like counts when logged out

Twitter, now called "X," has started to sort posts, previously known as tweets, by their like counts when viewing a profile while logged out.
