Felt compelled to get off the bus early because a dude was staring at me so hard I didn’t want him to know my actual stop.

Consider not doing this to women just going about their business.

@Cassandra I typically look at the floor while stimming to music.

@yourautisticlife You know what, I wondered if this toot would make autistic men nervous, so let me be clear about the violation of norms.

It absolutely happens, on the bus, that people make eye contact more than probably *either* party wants. I am not complaining about that fact of life. I assumed at first this is what was happening.

But then *he angled himself toward me in his seat* and kept staring. This is where I became uncomfortable.

@Cassandra In the off chance that you thought that I was nervous, you did not make me feel nervous. I was just saying how I roll. I do glance at people from time to time, but that's it.
@Cassandra
Smart move. Sorry you had to do it.

@Cassandra

I am an old woman, retired and have had cancer for 7 years etc. etc. Not looking for a man, that's for sure.

Same thing, I was loading groceries into my trunk on a hot day and I was wearing shorts and a tank top. A scary guy in a pick up truck pulled up to me and said things that were creepy and left me checking often to see if I was being followed. I never went back to that store.

"hey mama, looking good baby" type things.

EW, ICK, and SHUDDER.

@KFClinton

I've been memorizing licence plates since I was a kid, of drivers who I thought might end up harming me. What a thing to learn to do to for "safety."

@Cassandra Ugh, been there. I wonder if there are any women who haven't had to do this at least once.
@Cassandra and I considered it a big win today, that no men at the gym stared at me which happens nearly every time. I make it a point to not look any men in the eyes when I’m there now. Can men just STOP? (Sorry this happened to you)

@Cassandra

So sorry, you should not have to experience this fear
