Callsheet’s first week, why Apple might (or might not) want to buy Disney, and the state of the podcast-ad market.

Accidental Tech Podcast: 548: Starting to Count Chickens

Three nerds discussing tech, Apple, programming, and loosely related matters.

@atpfm Re: membership
I know the hosts don’t usually frequent the ATP subreddit, but there’s a lot of discussion on the episode post (~90 comments) about the how the post show was received, much of it in contrast to the comments here. It’s worth reading if you’re after as much of the audience’s views as possible like John stressed. https://www.reddit.com/r/ATPfm/comments/15ttiaj/548_starting_to_count_chickens

@liambarber @atpfm I read that whole thread, and I didn’t hear the tone that many posters over there heard in the after-show. I didn’t hear the hosts begging for more subs, I heard them attempting to start a discussion on how to iterate on their ad strategy and how to add more value to the membership subscription. I think these are valid points to bring up and appreciate their willingness to have an open discussion with the community about it.

@TonyPixelNoise @liambarber I read the whole thread yesterday, which utterly ruined my day.

I can't speak to how that segment came across, but Tony, you 100% nailed the *intention* of the segment. 💙

@caseyliss props for having the patience to read/reply. There’s lots of unfounded negativity there. Sometimes people forget that others have feelings.

@paint 💙

I genuinely don’t know why everyone in that subreddit is so crabby. :(
