The car industry is limited to the standard neoliberal business model, therefore doesn't have a primary aim of saving the environment. Its primary aim is the profit incentive which, depending on the business model's core product (values), typically causes environmental (ecological) & social (community) degradation.

EVs are better for our health as EVs don't have exhaust pipes.

The environmental costs of EVs are more related to the 'upstream' extraction of resources, & roads.
