Owls now wear 5 hats
@ItsGregory @Jedigirl
That's more than last year when they tended to go around with 15 on.

@staidwinnow @Jedigirl we need a "can't decide" option!

@AllisterMcLane @staidwinnow @Jedigirl Even more importantly, we need:

“I’ve heard about numbers, but I’m certainly not a mathematician. I would not say that I have firm views on them.”

@staidwinnow @Jedigirl 5 is definitely higher than 15
@smithjonathan @staidwinnow @Jedigirl i'm not on politics... i hate extremism from the both sides so i think the truth is probably in the middle. So 5 is probably equal to 15.

@staidwinnow @Jedigirl

15 being larger than 5 is what Big Number and the Math Industrial Complex wants you to believe. Sheeple.

@staidwinnow @Jedigirl

How do we know that 55% is greater than 45%? We need another poll!

@Jedigirl it is possible that the poll in US will show that 5 is larger number because 15 is too woke
@Jedigirl Actually, someone should run that number poll just to check...
@Jedigirl unfortunately 100% of billionaires appear to be sceptical of climate change

@Jedigirl

Tee Hee!

Well quoted. Are ‘merrycans stupid by design or inclination? (Asking for a friend)
I like Americans, once you get passed the blubber, a lot of meat on them.

[disclosure: Lobsters are cannibals but I am trying to eat more sustainbly] 🤓😌🦞🙄

@Jedigirl

I've noticed those people don't seem to be denying climate change as loudly anymore, as they swelter in the heat and choke on the fire smoke, and are instead starting to talk about ways to adapt to extreme weather events.

@Jedigirl The same people that rejected the 1/3rd pound burger because they thought the 1/4 pounder was bigger.
@Jedigirl That sounds great except for the elections, politicians and voting part.
@Jedigirl
Cause you need people's votes to elect someone to do something about it?
Except for China of course which is responsible for most of the emissions.
Though I don't think any solutions will come from government totalitarian decisions.

@Jedigirl but, think about the minority!
@Jedigirl The problem is that those same people are allowed to vote - and often do. Given the habitually low turn out percentages in US elections, a quarter of the population being scientifically ignorant is far more than sufficient to swing elections and influence public policy for the worse.

@Jedigirl

To be fair, the statement "one in four Americans are skeptical about climate change" isn't about climate change. Its about Americans. We have this weird tolerance for people who are actively disengaged with reality, to the point of tolerating actively harmful behaviors. And we need to grow out of it soon or it's going to kill us all.

@Jedigirl And there WILL BE someone to say "I want to be consulted about whether 5 > 15 or not !"
@Jedigirl
Thing is, when you poll people on which number is larger between ⅓ and ¼ not everyone gets it right.
@AlisonW @Jedigirl Can I raise a technical point. When you say bigger....
@Jedigirl They did actually have a form of poll over which number is bigger, ¼ or ⅓, and ¼ won (in the sample group of "people who buy burgers", anyway) 😀

@Jedigirl Just for regional balance here's the UK lottery company having to withdraw a scratch card because it was found too complicated to ask people to compare two negative temperatures to say which one is higher.

'Cool Cash' card confusion

A LOTTERY scratchcard has been withdrawn from sale by Camelot - because players couldn't understand it. The Cool Cash game - launched on Monday - was but taken out of shops yesterday after some players failed to grasp whether or not they had won.
