I hope we’ll eventually get new sci-fi TV shows that are located in space and not part of the following franchises: Star Wars, Star Trek, Stargate, Babylon 5, Expanse, Marvel, DC

I like all of them, but I’m also looking forward to seeing something that’s completely new. The last shows that fit this criterion, that I’m aware of, were: ā€œDark matterā€ (S1), ā€œKilljoysā€, ā€œFoundationā€. I can recommend all of them.

@rauschma Sounds like you're into Syfy fare so you might like "The Ark" which they aired recently. I'll be over here watching Foundation instead though.
@bodil Thanks! I forgot about Foundation, which I enjoyed (S1). Reviews for Ark were bad, so I ignored it. Should I reconsider?
@rauschma Not saying it was good but I enjoyed it, possibly just because it was running opposite Picard S3 so it was easy to shine in comparison. Also not as bad as Killjoys, for sure.
@rauschma You could always add Anime to your list.
@mlhaufe I probably should! Any recommendations?

@rauschma there is a very large variety and nuance, so to paint with a broad brush:

- Cowboy Bebop
- Macross
- Outlaw Star
- Gundam (50 year history of different series)
- Yamato 2199

Once you identify your tastes it's easier to wander out from there.

@rauschma
Dark matter really went from a very nice show to zero due to switching actors and writing between S1 and S2.

@rauschma have you watched The Orville? It is a love letter to Star Trek, mainly TNG.
@alannorbauer Orville is a curious mix (for me, YMMV): Some really good episodes, but also some awful ones.
I think that’s everyone, not just you šŸ˜….
@rauschma I super enjoyed Killjoys. It was original and modern and fun.
@Myphatself Same here: Sometimes a little cheesy, but a great story and always a lot of fun. The only time I cringed a little was when they used a sonic weapon in space. šŸ™ˆ
@rauschma plenty of cringe worthy moments but decent storyline. Usually a little on the sexy side. All good characters. What was that guy's name, kaylen, khylen, I think by the end of the series it was just Kiein.
@rauschma I've enjoyed the first season of "Altered Carbon", though I didn't even start to watch second one due to the overwhelming amount of reviews saying it's bad.
