Remember when 4 rich people were trapped on a submarine and resources from a dozen countries were brought to bear to rescue them even though they were very likely already dead? Think about why we don't put any effort into saving poor people on very easy to find boats. https://www.bbc.com/news/world-africa-66528273
More than 60 migrants feared dead at sea off Cape Verde coast

Almost all those on the boat, which was at sea for over a month, are thought to have been from Senegal.

@seldo I don’t buy it. Resources were thrown at the sub because it was newsworthy and garnered massive media coverage. There are countless migrant boats, they get lost all the time and the story, sad as it may be, is now routine.

Think of the Thai cave rescue or the Chilean miners. Newsworthy events, massive recovery efforts, yet the folks trapped were not billionaires.
