"Under the new guidelines, any transgender men who earned their titles in pre-transition period in a women’s tournament will be stripped of those achievements and the “abolished women title may be transferred into a general title of the same or lower level... But trans women who won titles in men’s events will be allowed to keep that title in full.”
Ed G.@woodsbythesea @matejpp @JenWojcik The article is not accurate. There are no "men's" events or titles. There are general titles and events, and a separate system of "women's" titles. The new FIDE rule is that trans women keep the general titles they hold, but trans men don't keep their women-specific titles. That doesn't sound unreasonable to me.
(The unreasonable thing is that FIDE is barring trans women from women's events until they decide otherwise on a case-by-case basis. WTH is that?)
