The multiple Trump indictments are a harsh reminder that none of this would have been necessary if law enforcement -- federal, state, and local -- had held this slimeball accountable for his crimes in New York over the decades.

One reason they didn't is that our top "news" media organizations treated him like a celebrity. They mostly ignored what a crook he was -- and that extended well into his presidency.

When the prosecutors and the journalists collaborate in this evil way, evil prevails.

@dangillmor Agree 100%, and I want to criticize the state of NY for failing to prosecute this bozo for decades, but I live in Texas and my state can't seem to find a way to get Ken Paxton into a courtroom despite multiple indictments spanning over nearly a decade so I don't feel like I can throw stones here.

Sadly, Trump is far from unique. There are far more swindling "business" people out there who deserves a prison just as much as Trump did BEFORE the 2020 election.

Now, he is not to compare. Just throw him in a medieval dungeon already.

The Republican Party had been trying to groom him as a candidate for governor or president since the late 80s. He was registered as a Democrat back then, but he was a Roy Cohn sort of Democrat. No allegiances to anyone or anything but himself and his creditors.

@dangillmor I am always surprised at the enormous gap in judicial outcomes between say, a shoplifter who can end up in jail and Trump who committed treason. Trump should by rights be in a prison cell in Guantanamo, not waltzing around free.
