Hosting provider Uberspace has taken down the website of youtube-dl after being held responsible for the website linking to the software on GitHub.

Azureus/Vuze (do not download!) created the only meaningful, easy to use and completely decentralized platform working similar to Youtube for on-demand video however they became corrupt. I am mentioning this later turned spyware application since it was also commercial/copyrighted material friendly. Some companies happily uploaded their content.

This one from Democracy Now! is also something to look at http://www.getmiro.com/ it is completely FOSS.
