While I understand that it has become a bit of #StarTrek trivia that if you look closely, you can see that Scotty is missing the middle finger on his right hand in a few brief shots, as James Doohan lost his right middle finger in WWII, there is no need to digitally remove Martin Quinn's right middle finger when he plays Scotty (like in #StarTrekSNW's "Hegemony"↖️). In "Wolf in the Fold"↗️ and "Relics"↘️, in longer close-ups of Scotty's right hand, he is not missing his middle finger, as a hand double was used. Also, in all of #StarTrekTAS ("One of Our Planets is Missing"↙️), he has all 10 fingers.
There is no need to write an episode in which Scotty loses a finger because he still has all of his fingers, as seen in these screenshots. The fact that James Doohan was missing a finger was cleverly hidden on the show and there is no need to feature this fact because, as I said, he still has all 10 fingers as seen in the screenshots.
@gaghyogi49 Are there people actually requesting that? If so: Wow!
There is a distinction between character and actor, and that certainly is a very good example of that.
@gaghyogi49 I mean if it was important to the character like he had a prosthetic leg or some other aid/ device then I would understand it, but they covered it in TOS related appearances so I agree, it’s irrelevant! 🖖🏼

@gaghyogi49

I actually had no idea. While a neat bit of trivia, unnecessary for the character, really.
