I normally don’t post Twitter screens but I can relate too much to this one

Correct answer

@stux

This is harder in Sacramento when it's over a SIP call box managed by a Third Party Call Center.

The standard answer is 'insert credit card' and pay the fee I have found. 😥

@stux

Does John Mastodon validate parking?

@Christopher I guess!

John always thinks people do a good job

@stux what does that even mean?
Am I getting old..?
@Ruth_Mottram I think it's that they pay for your parking or something like that
@stux @Ruth_Mottram In larger American cities, most parking is paid by the hour. When you visit a business, they often provide an incentive and pay for you (up to an hour). They “validate” your parking receipt so you can exit for free. In the suburbs, businesses are required to have a minimum number of parking spots by zoning law. Usually for free. But the business pays for that and charges you in their prices. And we drive further between acres of parking lots.
@stux FWIW I’ve lived her for most of my 45 years and don’t fully understand what it is and have never personally done it.
@stux as someone in the parking industry, this made me chuckle
