Why don't planes have a switch beside the call button that you can choose between "wake me up for meal service" or "leave me alone?"

This is a thing on (some) planes.
Took a transatlantic flight that had this functionality… it wasnt in the call button, but on the infotainment system. Instead of playi g movies, you could set the screen to those 2 options.
Domestic flights are incredibly unlikely to have meal service (even if you want to pay for it)
International (more across oceans than Germany to France) flights generally will unless you are flying the most budget of budget airlines (who tend to not do international flights anyway).
And a lot of that is just logistics. If a flight is 6-10 hours then people are going to miss meals. Hungry people get hangry.
You’re in luck:
It would be better if you could just order the meal(s) from the start of the flight with an option to change them at any moment by using the screen in front of your seat.
It’s such a pain in the ass to have to be alert for when the attendants show up and also trying to understand which options they have when it all could just be shown on a screen on your language.
Just be less poor. /s
But seriously in business class you can tell them if you want to be woken up or not and they’ll remember and respect it. Or course you can also probably get something to eat even if you missed meal service.
