80% of bosses say they regret earlier return-to-office plans: ‘A lot of executives have egg on their faces’

"Many companies are realizing they could have been a lot more measured in their approach, rather than making big, bold, very controversial decisions based on executives' opinions rather than employee data."

80% of bosses say they regret earlier return-to-office plans: ‘A lot of executives have egg on their faces’

As some business leaders accept hybrid work as a permanent reality, others are backtracking on earlier pledges to let employees work from home.

@DenisCOVIDinfoguy @DeeGLloyd I work for a small organization, and working from home I save $200/month in transit costs, and a hour and a half a day in commuting. So I have received , in effect, a $2400/year bonus, and the equivalent of 50 work days back of transit time. And it costs my organization *nothing* to provide this. Execs must be idiots if they don’t understand why employees want to keep all this.

@michaelgemar @DenisCOVIDinfoguy @DeeGLloyd Exactly! I’ve saved so much by working from home. Less makeup, less money on work clothes and fuel costs, less wear and tear on my car…

My employee and I love the flexibility, too. We can do personal things we need to do and we still get the work done.

@DenisCOVIDinfoguy @bok This thing about "recouping costs" - how? The cost is there whether an office is empty or full. "Saving face" for stupid property decisions is maybe a more realistic reason.
@DenisCOVIDinfoguy
Data Shmata, I made a rash and thoughtless decision and I’m sticking to it.
@DenisCOVIDinfoguy
"A whopping 80% of bosses regret their initial return-to-office decisions and say they would have approached their plans differently if they had a better understanding of what their employees wanted" is such a weird way to spell "if they did not flat out ignore information given to them by employees again and again."
@DenisCOVIDinfoguy @hbons who could have known that listening to people rather than pulling opinions out of your ass was a good idea?
@DenisCOVIDinfoguy it is only upon finding out that most executives come to regret having fucked around.
@DenisCOVIDinfoguy So now they have worked this out they will continue to make judgements based on employee data rather than executive opinions?

@DenisCOVIDinfoguy
The company that I work for asked us multiple times, then listened to what we had to say.

Their decision? Reduce our space, rent out the excess (even if nobody wants it right now). I’m still working from home.
