This is actually often done when trying to be more eloquent or dramatic or add importance, like how Independence day is The 4th of July versus just saying Jily 4th.
Not sure if youâre joking but âthe 9th of Augustâ is short for âthe 9th [day] of August,â so if you think of it that way, your âthe September of 2024â extrapolation isnât really fair. Itâd be more like âthe 9th month of 2024â which actually would be reasonable if months didnât have names, but they do.

I honestly feel like this is such a dumb argument to have because it doesnât matter except for communication with people who use other methods. Now metric vs imperial makes way more sense to me because the metric system is just so much easier for mathematical conversions.

Seconds are part of the metric system and are the base unit of time. Just because they didnât define it initially doesnât mean it doesnât exist or makes sense. They use milliseconds and kiloseconds; minutes and hours are used for convenience but are not part of the SI
