Why are drug dealers putting fentanyl in everything?

Listen to this episode from Search Engine on Spotify. Isn't it bad business to kill your own customers? In part one of our answer to this question, we talk to reporter Ben Westhoff, who helps us understand how Fentanyl became a street drug in the first place. He'll share recordings taped in a Chinese Fentanyl lab, and explain why some dealers might want to poison their own customers with the drug.If you have questions or comments about this episode, or if you'd like to support the show, head to our newsletter. @taylorlorenz I’m In because this question fascinates me. Killing your clientele seems counterproductive
@taylorlorenz i mean, the answer could be complex but fentanyl is really cheap and it gets people v high. doesn't seem complicated.
@taylorlorenz Search Engine is great podcast! I discovered it last month and binged it, starting with “how does an old person discover new music?” (Follow his tips) And his episode discussing “is airplane water full of diseases?” (Probably not) #podcast
@taylorlorenz that was so interesting! I had no idea that fentanyl is to heroin like crack is to cocaine, super fast to wear off. But where I live there really is a market for it, we have so many people around here on methadone or Suboxone who still want to get high from time to time, and those folks seek fentanyl because it will “punch through” the blockers.
@taylorlorenz yes! Thank you for this. Been asking the question for years
@taylorlorenz thank you for sharing, the podcast is indeed very good !
