Adopt the Finnish system
Enough of those fines could pay for a decent mass transit system upgrade @rrwo @RandomDamage @cstross @ncweaver

Those cars are covered in cameras. And their owners have access to Alphabet's (aka: Google's owners) shitpile of photographs and servers to perform face recognition with.

So wear a mask. And probably an abaya or niquab or other robe, because gait recognition is a thing and they don't need to ID you immediately once they have a vandal on video for posterity …

I'd love to see the EU privacy impact assessments for those cameras.

@cstross @faduda @Koochulainn @egypt @rrwo @RandomDamage @ncweaver I read somewhere that putting a stone in your shoe is probably good to defeat gait recognition. But also, not comfortable

@dan @RandomDamage @Koochulainn @egypt @rrwo @ncweaver @cstross

My guess is gait recognition is about as reliable as facial recognition, which is not very.

@faduda @RandomDamage @Koochulainn @egypt @rrwo @ncweaver @cstross but it’s Google

@faduda @dan @RandomDamage @Koochulainn @[email protected] @ncweaver @cstross That's never stopped a cop from using it to harass people
@cstross @faduda @Koochulainn @egypt @rrwo @RandomDamage @ncweaver Potentially damage from afar would help with limiting view angles.

People are apparently putting traffic cones on the bonnets... no damage, apart from the hassle of having to send someone out to take them off...
@sabik @cstross @faduda @Koochulainn @egypt @rrwo @RandomDamage @ncweaver Possibly even lower liability/risk, depending on local specifics. Not bad.
