Rarely does the press publish an article on long covid that tells it like it is. Here is one:

Long covid has derailed my life. Make no mistake: It could yours, too.

Long covid has derailed my life. Make no mistake: It could yours, too.

No matter how immortal we feel, we are all — still — at risk of developing crushing, life-altering symptoms.

The Washington Post

@yaneerbaryam @whn @oblomov

“The United States has always been a terrible place to be sick and disabled. Ableism is baked into our myths of bootstrapping and self-reliance, in which health is virtue and illness is degeneracy. It is long past time for a bedrock shift, for all of us.”

Great quote and it’s so true it hurts.

I'm sorry to hear about this Yaneer. I wish you the best.

I read this article yesterday and thought it was good. I don't like how the WP changed the title and filed the article in "post-pandemic". Her original title was I have long covid. For the millions like me, the pandemic isn’t over

This has terrified me since the first news about #longcovid
@ggasp It took me 8 months to recover, and fortunately, I did recover, but it was a long harsh road.
@yaneerbaryam @whn Yes! And her conclusion is spot on for me:
“So how long am I going to do this? Until indoor air is safe for all, until vaccines prevent transmission, until there’s a cure for long covid. Until I’m not risking my family’s future on a grocery run. Because the truth is that however immortal we feel, we are all just one infection away from a new life.”

@yaneerbaryam @whn The fact that the WP apparently has a category called “Post Pandemic” tells us all we need to know about their editorial position on the matter.
