Sergio Ribero@SonjaMGFX sort of going through the same thing, though I'm still unsure/nervous about it. I'm also drawn to dev work so I figured a nice middle-ground would be to develop tools and scripts for other motion designers and I've been kind of enjoying the process. It helps that we already know the kind of problems motion designers face, so we can solve them easily.
@chechoribero I’m sort of leaning into the same direction of dev work but I have tried to sell a few tools and it’s a struggle so I am doubtful if that can be a full time career. Have you tried putting up any templates or plugins on mograph market places?
@SonjaMGFX yeah, I'm having exactly the same doubts. I haven't started selling any yet, but I'm hoping to give it a go soon with an extension I've been working on. Seems like you need to put in a lot of effort into marketing your tools on social media which I don't love but it might be worth it to give it a try
@chechoribero yes that’s basically it. I wasn’t able to garner a sizeable audience in my target demographic, so it was really hard to market my tools. Good luck, if you can get it off the ground it’s a really cool passive income!
