There’s always been a somewhat unsettling air of exploitation and voyeurism with the rise of the true crime trend.

This sadly seems like the inevitable next step from reenactments and interviews with survivors. Deepfakes of children narrating their own murders.

This is the kind of content that even though legal, every platform should ban. The “influencers” who claim to be spreading awareness and refuse to remove videos when victims parents complain are the worst.

The videos show the likeness of Gabriel Fernández, James Bulger and Madeleine McCann narrating their deaths or disappearances in child-like voices.

@carnage4life I just finished a novel that was partly told in the first person by a victim following her own death. That's ok for a novel. This is way beyond the pale. So distasteful.
@carnage4life it’s horrifying. It also reminds me of 19th century con artists / charlatans who would pretend to “speak” for the dead to comfort loved ones. The scam has been modernized.
