LBruningNL@J_aa_p @Eetschrijver The immensely confusing thing when traveling into rural US is that you'll meet these thoroughly nice and bright people, who'll still vote for Trump! I haven't figured this out yet. Also, I know some of these people and can't figure out how not to be nice to them while knowing they vote for Trump!
@J_aa_p @Eetschrijver It's got to do with the basic empathy level of humans I think. Evolutionarily, that stretches to communities of groups up to 100 people, your own community.
But when it comes to immigrants, help for people in poor countries, refugees, that's another level. And some people's emotions don't reach that far it seems.
