#RedesigningPennsylvaniaAvenue is a great idea and I like the idea of "Civic Space." But I would like to remind the planners to recall that the big protest/event space on the Capitol Mall was "aesthesticized" by placing a "memorial" to soldiers who died in #WWII. Full of bollards and metal chains, it looks like Mordor instead of a thoughtful, communal meditative place the way the #VietnamMemorial in DC is sited. We need "#urbanrenewal" of a non Le Corbusier variety. https://wapo.st/440vR7V
Pennsylvania Avenue changes in D.C. should mean fewer cars, more trees

Over time, Pennsylvania Avenue morphed into an eight-lane urban highway to facilitate car commuters rushing in and out of the city. Then the pandemic hit.
